People always ask me where I get my clothes and I very proudly tell everyone that almost everything I wear is from a consignment/thrift store. Even when I was making a lot of money, I was still shopping mostly at consignment stores because we have really good ones in our area and it's fun and easy on the wallet.
It's tax-free week in Connecticut. I went to two consignment stores in the area yesterday; Elite Repeats (my favorite) and Consignment Originals. Here are the things I bought:
6 tanks - Bebe ($7.00), J. Crew ($6.00), another J. Crew ($6.00 brand new with tags on) , NY&Co. ($3.25), Ann Taylor LOFT ($4.25), BCBG MaxAzria (brand new) - The RETAIL price of the BCBG tank alone was $160.00 - I paid $7.50, Cache ($9.00) - with chain straps and a drape back!
4 skirts (Express, H&M)
1 pair of lined Liz Claiborne pants
2 cardigans - Express ($6.00) and Michael Kors: ($14.00)
1 Banana Republic work shirt - $4.75
1 GAP Spring jacket -$7.25
2 dressy Capri pants (Ann Taylor LOFT)
2 pair of long shorts (Dockers and The Limited) - The pair from The Limited were $4.25
1 American Eagle hoodie
1 Evan Picone little black dress - $1.00 (Yes, you read that right.)
1 pair black Stuart Weitzman heels - $6.00
1 pair brown Cole Haan wedge heels (don't remember the price) - cheap!
1 pair of BCBGirls maroon heels - $9.00
1 pair emerald green Kenneth Cole Reaction loafers - $8.00
The GRAND TOTAL was $182.76
So let's recap. I bought 6 tank tops, 4 skirts, 1 pair of lined pants, 2 cardigans, 1 work shirt, 1 jacket, 2 Capri pants, 2 long shorts, 1 hoodie, 1 little black dress that fits like a glove, and 4 pair of shoes. FOR $182.76. If these clothes were full-price, I wouldn't have been able to buy even the BCBG tank and the Michael Kors cardigan for that price.
If anyone has questions, feel free to leave them in the comments. Happy to share my secrets! :) Enjoy the end of tax-free week!
